Respite Care Provider for 24-Hour/Day Respite

Job Description: To provide a safe, respectful, and caring environment in your home and in the community for a 18-year-old male with autism living in Towanda. Respite care is a service provided due to the need for relief of family members normally providing the care.

Qualifications of a respite care provider:

• The candidate is subject to a driver’s license and criminal background check. Must be at least 18 years of age, maintain a working telephone, possess a valid driver’s license, and provide transportation.
• Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
• Experience working with people with autism
• Experience working with children and/or youth.
• Must demonstrate competency to perform the duties as verified by the family.
• Have the abilities or skills necessary as determined by the participant to meet his needs as outlined in his service plan.
• Have appropriate accommodations in your home to provide the participant with his own bed and privacy.
• Three references are required.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide 24-hour respite care in your home and in the community.
• Provide health safety and supervision.
• Involvement with the person’s daily activities.
• Meal preparation.
• Support the individual in activities he enjoys while in your care.
• Provide transportation in the community.
• In addition to over night respite, the opportunity to provide hourly respite services.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Overnight shift
• Weekends as needed

Experience:

• Caregiving: 1 year (Required)
